On the Bright Side – YSL Touche Eclat

There are various ways to brighten up the eye area. Eye creams, as I’ve mentioned before, are a good way to keep your skin looking healthy and reduce bagginess and puffiness. But for a quick fix, you can always cover up those dark circles with concealer, or various other products that are out there that are made for that very purpose.

What am I using at the moment? Glad you asked.

Touche Eclat by YSL is a highlighter that seems to have a bit of a cult following. It claims to add light, luminosity and radiance. Big call.

It comes in a click pen with a brush and like all YSL products, the packaging is gorgeous. It’s basically a really light, smooth cream that you pat on to brighten your face up. You can use it on more than just your eyes (along the bridge of your nose, your cupids bow, cheek bones), but it really does do wonders on the eye area. I was actually at YSL shopping for lipstick when the shop assistant showed me the Touche Eclat – she may have noticed I’d had a long night and would see a massive difference when she applied the highlighter to the full set of luggage I had hanging under my eyes. Well, notice a difference I did and I snapped it up.

The best thing about Touche Eclat is that you can pretty much just slap it on over the makeup you’ve already applied, and just touch it up a bit if you’re heading out after work. You only need a small amount (the pen applicator with clicker is a great way to ensure you don’t squeeze out too much), and you literally dab a bit on under your eyes and blend lightly with your finger. It really makes your eyes pop, but doesn’t look too light and weird which is what can happen if you’re using thick concealers under the eye (especially when sooooo many gals get the colour wrong – get the assistant to help you choose the right one).

So maybe you’ll give it a try when you feel like buying yourself something nice – it retails at $55 but does last a while so you do get your money’s worth.

What highlighters do you use? Or do you have any other tricks to get rid of those raccoon eyes? I’d love to know!
